U.S. Senator Sam Brownback Honored in Jerusalem for Supporting Israel
Unity Coalition for Israel - Jul 19, 2004
Unity Coalition for Israel awarded Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) the prestigious Orde Wingate Protector of Israel Award for his continued commitment to Israel’s existence as a state. The ceremony took place on July 19, 2004, at the Knesset in Jerusalem, Israel.
Unity Coalition for Israel (UCI), based in the state of Kansas in the United States, is the largest worldwide coalition of Jewish and Christian organizations.
The award is named after Christian Zionist Orde Wingate, who used his vision and military skills between 1936 and 1939 to help establish the State of Israel. Sen. Brownback has been a tireless supporter of a close U.S. – Israel relationship.
As such, he:

- sponsored legislation opposing the declaration of a Palestinian state;
- initiated hearings on the effectiveness of the Oslo Accords; and
- participated in numerous pro-Israel events and initiatives of Unity Coalition for Israel.
