The US government is currently telling us:
Instead of the “Global War on Terror” for which we have sacrificed thousands of American lives and billions of dollars to protect our liberties – President Obama has reportedly ordered an end to use of the phrase “Global War on Terror,” a label adopted by the Bush administration shortly after the September 11 attacks.
In order to be politically correct, we must now make reference to our United States “Overseas Contingency Operation”. The words `terror`, `Jihad`, and references to `radical Islam` as identifying the source of our problem are to be eliminated.
And instead of the “9-11″ phrase which is highly recognizable and understandable – we must maintain a low profile and call it – the “National Day of Service,” a more vague and much less descriptive euphemism.
If this were not so serious, it would be laughable.
During the next fateful and historically memorable month of September we will try to “Connect the Dots” to dramatize and explain why this new directive is counterproductive to everything for which America and our democratic allies stand and it is certainly detrimental to our defense in a dangerous world. It constitutes a “watering down” of our understanding and coming to grips with threats to our constitutional Judeo-Christian based society.
Accompanying this effort is an effective propaganda tool intended to discredit our democratic ally Israel with a worldwide smear campaign to paint the Jewish state as a virus that endangers world peace. It is being waged by various media outlets and countless nonprofit organizations and political entities.
Caroline Glick writes in the Jerusalem Post of August 27, 2009. Column One: The Rigged Game:
“It is the predominance of anti-Israel attitudes throughout the continent that enables European leaders to make light of the Iranian nuclear threat even as ever growing swathes of the continent fall within the range of the Islamic republic`s ballistic missiles.”
“A mere glance at the daily Middle East coverage of your standard European newspaper suffices to demonstrate the depths of Europe`s obsession with hating Israel. The absence of peace is always Israel`s fault. The fact that the Arabs have never accepted Israel`s right to exist is either whitewashed or justified. So too, Arab terrorism is explained away while every act – small and large – that in any way asserts Israel`s right to defend itself is pounced upon as proof of Israel`s criminality and brutality.”
Just as the preceding two examples of September events have helped to shape our destiny, as early as this month of September we will face more decisions that can likewise have the power to reverberate, for better or worse, for years to come. We should now explore how we will respond to new challenges. The stakes are very high and the pressure to conform will be great.
We must decide if we will follow the President`s dictates or pursue our own informed common sense understanding.
