President and Chief Executive Officer - Saint Luke's Health System

Hastings is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the American Hospital Association. He serves on numerous civic boards including the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Urban League, and Midwest Research Institute Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City.

In 2001, Hastings received the Human Relations Award from the Kansas City Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee for his insitution of "The Year of Israel" as a project for the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. He connected Missouri/Kansas corporations with Israel, planning trips to investigate potential business relationships and healthcare.

He also received the 2001 American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regents Award.

In 2000, he was one of eight runners-up in Working Mother Magazine's diversity awards competition. He also received the 2000 CEO of the Year Difference Maker Award from the Urban League of Greater Kansas City.

In 1998, Hastings received the Missouri Hospital Association's Distinguished Service Award and The Governor's Quality Leadership Award. He has been a featured speaker for many conferences and events including: the International Federation Congress in Oslo, Norway; the Health Trustee Institute in Cleveland; and The Sixth Annual Symposium on Integrated Healthcare in Colorado Springs. Hastings is a member of VHA's Board of Directors and Novation Board.

Hastings served in the United States Air Force in numerous operational positions and received a Bronze Star for service in Southeast Asia. He joined Saint Luke's Hospital in 1976 as an administrative resident. He has served as assistant and associate director of general and support services, executive director, and chief operating officer.

He is a preceptor for the University of Minnesota's Health Care Administration Program. Hastings holds a master's degree in business administration from Chapman University in Orange, Calif., and a master's degree in hospital and health care administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
